Poll: 32 Shopping Days...

Now I feel like I have set some sort of precedent. You come here on Fridays and think, "ooh, I hope there is a poll for me to take." As my boss once said, "People like clicking!" (She said this to justify hiding information on our website under some crazy titles like "Get informed" "Get connected" and "Get something else that makes no sense and you will never find what you are looking for because someone wants to stick with this silly 'Get something' format!" We objected. She responded, "people like clicking; they like interactivity!" Yes, but they don't like searching for information that should be plain. D'oh.)

You like clicking, so let's get to it.

How are you doing on the preparation for Christmas or other end of year holiday you may celebrate?

I'm helped by the fact that I:

a. have a small family
b. am British so no Thanksgiving (and restraint in decorating is normal)
c. am not working so I have more lesiure time
d. don't have a lot of money to sepnd anyway (see c. above)

I should have everything done by 7 December :o)

We never used to decorate since we always go back east for Christmas, but three years ago we started to run this Holiday party (and CookieFest), so now we have a stash of Christmas decorations for both inside and outside. There is a white tree (with green and purple balls) and LOTS of lights (which look good in the back reflecting in the pool), and stuff for the mantle and table clothes. When we get back from Los Angeles on Monday we will go in full decoration mode. I need to decide what cookie recipes we will be making on the 13th and what the dinner menu is for the 15th. The hardest thing about Christmas itself is trying to find things that we can ask for from our inlaws. I DON'T WANT ANYTHING. I have too much stuff as it is, but I can't get away with saying nothing.

I am hoping to get my Christmas stitching done, my gifts bought and my house decorated before we go to NY on the 8th. Ack!

Yay, my kids are away, we are on our own, we are doing nothing! Ian said yesterday "Shall we book to eat somewhere?" I persuaded him that cheese sandwiches all day on the 25th was fine!!

I need to give my daughter something, she has a gift pack already nearly done, and I need to add a CD voucher or something. I have already given the son his pressie. Ian: - I have bought him a painting. He hasn't seen it yet. Maybe I should get the 'step daughter' something... hmm, ungrateful little miss, maybe not - ha ha!!

Okay, I think I get it. Meat stuffing is bread stuffing with meat added such as sausage or oysters? I think we would call that oyster dressing or sausage dressing.

Ask Anna - I love learning about regional differences in the U.S.

Meat stuffing has no bread or maybe just crackers. In the French Canadian version it ranges from pork and potatoes to beef and sausage. Because if you can put pork in a turkey, you should.
