Stitchbooking--Yay or Nay?

This month's Just Cross-stitch features something they are calling "stitchbooking"--cross stitched elements for scrapbooks. I'd show you a stitched example, but JCS is revamping their online presence. They took the cards (pictured) stitched flowers and dots on them, and made them into birthday hats.

What do you think of this trend?

It's clearly a way to cash in on the percieved dominance of scrapbooking. I'm primarily a stitcher who does scrapbook occasionally. I don't think I like the cross-over. I do simple scrapbooks for a reason. Although it would take care of the trouble of finishing stitched pieces, it just feels too much like prostitution. But JCS promises more stitchbooking in the next issue.

If you are interested, you can get the stitch cards here; I am a full-service bitch.

What....no comment about ANOTHER overblown article by Martha Beth Lewis in JCS? I'm disappointed. Every month when JCS arrives at my doorstep, I think of your blog comments regarding her series....and I whole-heartedly agree. Too much wha-wha-wha about technique and not enough charts.

I'm pleased that you think of me! I have completely weaned myself off MBL articles. I haven't read one since the last time I commented on it. I feel very proud of myself, and I'm considering starting a 12-step program for JCS subscribers.

I don't scrap, so I see no need for such a thing. Even if I did, I don't think I'd find the need to stitch party hats. Huh! Marketing at its finest.

I've actually used stitching on scrapbook pages in the past. I don't need that sort of specialized product (which, btw, isnt very attractive) to cross over if I choose to do so.
